The [law-rah] Collective
The [law-rah] collective is a collective of persons and personalities from the center of Holland who are working on the auditive side of art. It was founded in 1998 by Bauke van der Wal, after he started experimenting with analog equipment and its output in relation to the emotional perspective of conceptual art.
Within the years of collective existence, Bauke worked together with several people and re-evaluated the collectiveness of the project, which on its turn changed a solo-project with a weird name into a true collective of artists in auditive and visual areas. The collective now has three constant members, though not all of them work on the same productions.
And even though Bauke remains active with almost all collective output, his dream is to listen to a CD by the collective with which he had nothing to do ...

vesuvius
After the already sold-out Skin Crime album, 'Vesuvius' is the second vinyl release on Force of Nature and the first in a series, where each release will be describing a different natural disaster.
Both tracks are around fifteen minutes in length and created with analog sound sources only. While the first side of the 12" describes the expulsion of volcanic gasses - solfataras - poisoning the air, the second side sketches a picture of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplonti and Stabiae, each hidden under 10 to 75 feet of tephra (ashes). Two days of volcanic activity killed over 3300 people.
The design and packaging of 'Vesuvius' is explosive itself; slightly transparent golden vinyl resembling the power of the magma hidden deep inside the earth. An ash and smoke colored cover insert designed by Dominick Fernow of Hospital Productions not only gives a brief history of the volcano; it also acts as a guardian protecting the gold of an once so prosperous city which is no more.
